Back in 2015, work started on the luxury hotel in the centre of Bridgwater and in the heart of the Eastover area. You can read our post about it for some background info. The hotel will be the first four-star hotel in the area, and after a visit to the site earlier this week, we believe it will bring a wealth of opportunities to our side of town.
Deepak Chainrai, of DC Homes and Investments, invited us to come along to the site to see how the build is shaping up.
Unfortunate delays
Due to a number of unfortunate set backs – such as an unexpected archaeology dig on site – the hotel looks like it will open early 2018. Although it will be a shame to miss out on this year’s carnival, we believe that when the hotel opens it will be a prime spot to view the carnival as it passes. The ground floor level will have floor to ceiling windows, meaning you will be able to see the carnival from every angle, and the views from the bedroom balconies also promise an excellent view too!
Chelsea Chadwick, district councillor for Eastover, said, “The opening of the hotel has been long awaited here in Eastover, and it’s looking like it will pave the way for new businesses to come to Eastover and spark the start of the Celebration Mile improvements. It’s a very exciting time for the area!”
Exciting times ahead
With no more delays looking to stop progress, we are sure it won’t be long before the hotel starts to take shape. The hotel will have more than 100 rooms, a Marco Pierre White restaurant, a bar and ample car parking. People will travel to Bridgwater to visit the only four-star hotel in the area – hopefully leading to a boost to stores along Eastover and in to the town centre as well.
We will keep you updated with the hotel as it develops, so watch this space!
